For an individual consumer who has an issue with a product made of steel (e.g., defective goods, poor quality), the relevant bodies are the general consumer forums, which are autonomous bodies established under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

How it all began

Steel Consumer Forum aim to provide to help as simple, speedy, and less expensive redressal for consumer grievances.

Issue orders such as:

Removal of defects from the goods.
Replacement of the goods.
Refund of the price paid.
Compensation for loss or injury suffered.
How a consumer can use them:

Resolve disputes between Steel Consumers and sellers/service providers.
Provide relief for defective goods, deficient services, unfair trade practices, or overcharging etc.

Consumers can file a complaint with the appropriate District, State, or National Forum depending on the value of their claim.

Before filing in a court, consumers are encouraged to attempt to resolve the issue amicably through the Steel Consumer Forum.
