Iron & Steel Assessment Board
The Iron & Steel Assessment Board is the technical and certification arm of the Steel Consumer Forum (SCF), created to ensure that every tonne of steel reaching consumers is safe, reliable and future‑ready. It connects product quality with safety, environmental performance and international standards so that Indian steel can be trusted in both domestic and global markets.
Purpose and Scope
The primary purpose of the Iron & Steel Assessment Board is to set, verify and continuously upgrade quality benchmarks for iron and steel products and processes.
Its scope covers:
Long products, flat products, structural steel, TMT bars, pipes, and other commonly used steel products
Assessment of plant practices, testing facilities and adherence to Indian and international standards
Coordination with national quality and standards bodies wherever relevant
Through this, the Board acts as an independent, consumer‑centric layer of assurance over and above regulatory requirements.
